NORTHERN HORIZONS LISTED AS BANFF FINALIST

In another seemingly surreal turn of events, Northern Horizons has been shortlisted as a finalist among the eight categories that will be recognised at the 50th anniversary Banff Centre Mountain Film and Book Festival.

More than 140 entries were submitted from 11 countries, these being narrowed down to the so-called longlist of 29 category finalists. Category winners will be announced 16 October, each of which is eligible for the Grand Prize, to be announced 6 November in Banff.

I’m under no illusions, and frankly, simply to have been shortlisted as a finalist among such company, is something I would never have dreamed possible not so long ago. In fact it wasn’t on the agenda at all. But it would be disingenuous to imply such an accolade doesn’t mean a great deal.

Credit must go to the team at Scottish Mountaineering Press too without whom Northern Horizons could not have happened.
